Prime Minister Gaston Browne has congratulated Dr. Keith Rowley on his reelection to the position of Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. Rowley’s People’s National Movement (PNM) claimed victory in Trinidad and Tobago elections on Monday night.
In an official congratulatory letter to his Trinidad and Tobagonian counterpart, PM Browne highlighted Dr. Rowley’s achievement in securing reelection and wished him continued success in his good governance of the state of Trinidad and Tobago.
Prime Minister Browne said Dr. Rowley’s commitment to regionalism and his leadership will be crucial to the success of both countries.
The Antigua and Barbuda leader added that issues such as the COVID-19 crisis, climate change and air and sea transportation within the region require the collaboration of both leaders, noting that he looks forward to continued partnership with the PNM administration in Trinidad and Tobago.
PM Browne stated, “Our two nations, and the nations of CARICOM, are confronted with new and different challenges in this epoch of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Additionally, persistent issues remain, such as making our countries more resilient to Climate Change and collaborating to address equitably matters like regional air and sea transformation.
“Your well known commitment to regionalism and your leadership will be crucial to our joint success.”
Browne further wished Dr. Rowley, his government and the people of Trinidad and Tobago good fortune as they continue the task of strengthening their country.
With twenty-two parliamentary seats, Dr. Rowley’s PNM defeated Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s United National Congress which secured nineteen seats.
