The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank Limited (ECAB) has partnered with the Rotary Club of Antigua to assist with the construction of two (2) new classrooms, which will allow the School for the Deaf to meet the COVID-19 safety requirements for the upcoming school year.
Mr. Michael Spencer, General Manager of ECAB, presented a cheque for $25,000.00 to Mr. Kevin Silston, President of the Rotary Club of Antigua, and Ms. Dianne Archibald, Principal, of the School for the Deaf, on Friday, August 21, 2020.
Mr. Spencer stated that ECAB was pleased to be associated with this initiative as “Our youth remain our most valuable resource as it is through them that our country will continue to develop and evolve”.
In his response, Mr. Silston thanked ECAB for such a significant contribution which represents fifty per cent of the cost of construction. Mrs. Archibald also thanked ECAB and the Rotary Club of Antigua for realizing the benefit the extra classrooms will provide in the delivery of co-curricular activities as well a space for a sick bay.
In his handover remarks, Mr. Spencer noted as citizens of Antigua and Barbuda we must all work together, now more than ever, to protect and preserve our nation, its institutions and its youth”.
The General Manager looks forward to the completion of the project and the enhancement of the students’ development.
