Despite being cancelled the traditional dates for Carnival Monday and Tuesday will be holidays.
Information Minister Melford Nicholas says he was bringing clarity to the question which many people have asked.
“It is a matter of law and both holidays will continue to be part of our calendar of holidays this year,” he said.
In April, National Festivals Minister Daryll Matthew announced that the twin-island nation’s premier summer festival has been canceled this year, as COVID-19 continues to grip the world.
Carnival was originally scheduled for July 23 to August 4.
